Friday Faves: Street Cred

27 Jan

Henry David Thoreau said, “This world is but a canvas to our imagination.”  Street artists take that idea quite literally, by taking art out of the isolating artistic environments of galleries and museums, bringing the art to a public that might not otherwise be exposed to it.  Check out these examples of art full of street cred!

Keep your eyes peeled for street art while you’re out and about this weekend!  Would love to see some examples from your community!

Very cool. I have a fascination with street art, and whenever I see it I always wonder what the artist’s motivation was behind it. Found your blog under wordpress topics ‘art’…glad I did!!

Glad you stopped by, Desiree! I think what I love most about street art is the element of surprise. Every time I happen upon it in an unexpected place, I can’t help but smile and appreciate the artist’s desire to elevate what could be a neglected, desolate environment with art.

      Cheers!
