The Artsy Home: Modern Whimsy

25 Mar

Have you ever fallen in love with a wonderfully strange work of art but had no idea how to design a room around it?  Interior designer Fawn Galli hits the mark with her contemporary fairy tale room designed around a painting by Anne Siems.

I often wonder about my clients who purchase my Abstract paintings and just how they’ll fit it into their living spaces lol😀 I guess they’re going with the color mixes I use.🙂

Great blog you have here Lesley! I did a search on wordpress.com for Interior Design and you were the first to pop up. I’ve been meaning to investigate the whole Interior Design world and see what designers are looking for when it comes to art.

Glad you found me, Staci! In my work as an art consultant, much of my work was with interior designers, so you may find this is an art blog with a definite design-oriented slant.🙂

What I like about this is that the painting doesn’t exactly “match” the interior, they both complement each other in subtle ways.

Wow, Ms. Forager… you found a winner. I almost invariably detest that 60s-modern home decor (sorry… my taste runs to traditional proportions), but this room just *works*. The colors are fantastic… putting a twisted spin on the modern and the (typically) feminine palette.

Now, I wonder whether this could be used in a watercolor….
